43rd session of the FAO Conference

The 43rd session of the FAO Conference will be held from 1 to 7 July, dedicated to the election of the new Director-General of the United Nations for the period 2023-2027, and to numerous high-level round tables organized around the theme of the integrated management of water resources.

The Conference takes place every two years and is the supreme governing body of FAO which approves the work program and the budget of the Organization for the following two years.

The main theme of the various round tables is the integrated management of water resources. There will be three round tables on the theme of water from Monday to Wednesday. The first will focus on water scarcity: getting water flowing for people and the planet; the second roundtable on integrated flood risk management; and finally Roundtable number three will focus on water infrastructure. In addition, five side events will promote discussions on various relevant topics, ranging from the risks and opportunities of artificial intelligence to the importance of the Black Sea Grain Initiative (BSGI) for global food security.
