A new museum opens its doors in the capital

Casa Bellonci opens to the public and becomes a museum of literature. The press conference for the inauguration of the Maria and Goffredo Bellonci Foundation, the historical headquarters of the Premio Strega, was held on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Maria Bellonci’s birth. Speakers were Giovanni Solimine, President of the Foundation, Daniela Porro, Special Superintendent of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Rome, Miguel Gotor, Councilor for Culture of Rome Capital, Flavia Mazzarella, President of BPER Banca, Giuseppe D’Avino, President of Strega Alberti Benevento, and Melania Mazzucco, writer, president of the Steering Committee of the Strega Prize, coordinated by Stefano Petrocchi, director of the Foundation.

The transformation into a house museum, curated by the architect Patrizia Del Vescovo, was made possible thanks to the contribution of the Lazio Region and BPER Banca. Individual guests, groups and schools will be able to visit it every Friday starting from 16 December by booking on the Fondazionebellonci.it website on the “Plan your visit” page.

The inauguration of the House Museum is part of a broader project to enhance the tangible and intangible heritage of the Bellonci Foundation and the Strega Prize which also involves the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia, which has hosted the final Strega evening since 1953, and which will see the two venues united through a single guided tour through the present and past of the award.
