Cardinal Ercole Consalvi. A diplomat in stormy times (1757-1824)

On 22-23 January 2024, in the Conference Hall of the Vatican Museums, in Vatican City, the international conference “Cardinal Ercole Consalvi. A diplomat in stormy times (1757-1824)“, organized by the Vatican Secretariat of State, by Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences, from the Vatican Museums. The proceedings will be opened by greetings from Card. Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, by Barbara Jatta, director of the Vatican Museums and by Marek Inglot SJ, president of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences. Among the many speakers also prof. Don Roberto Regoli, of the Pontifical Gregorian University, who will speak on “More priest than others. 200 years of Consalvian historiography”.

In the afternoon of the second day, at 4.30 pm, Prof. Richard Wittman, of the University of California, will speak on “Artists in Rome in Consalvi’s time“. After the debate at 5.30 pm Mgr. will speak. Richard Paul Gallagher, Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations. At the end, a visit reserved for participants in the exhibition dedicated to Antonio Canova in the Vatican Museums is scheduled.
