A virtual exhibition tells the story of the Italian embassies and residences, a symbol of our country abroad. In fact, it is now possible to visit some of the most beautiful Italian embassies in the world via computer. Italy has a wealth of historic buildings used as embassies and residences of ambassadors of particular importance and prestige. As has often been underlined, it is an extremely effective tool in terms of promoting the image of our country abroad. The embassy is a symbol, as well as an institution, and as such it is destined to strike the collective imagination and to be immediately associated with the country of reference.
The “fil rouge” of this virtual visit is represented by the substantial and luxurious series of books on the Italian embassies created and edited by Amb. Gaetano Cortese, published by Carlo Colombo Editore. A series that now includes over forty volumes, not only in Italian.
The video, made by Amb. Stefano Baldi, is now available on YouTube, dedicated to about twenty embassies, and constitutes a contribution to the knowledge of these little-known treasures that Italy has abroad.
