Exhibition ‘Filippo and Filippino LIPPI. Ingenuity and oddities in Renaissance art’

The extraordinary case of a father and son, both painters and illustrators of exceptional talent, will be the protagonist of the Capitoline Museums in the rooms of Palazzo Cappello from 15 May to 25 August 2024 thanks to the exhibition “Filippo and Filippino Lippi. Ingenuity and oddities in the art of the Renaissance”, promoted by Roma Capitale, Capitoline Superintendence of Cultural Heritage and organized by the MetaMorfosi Association, in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura.

The exhibition, curated by Claudia La Malfa, aims to illustrate the golden age of the Italian Renaissance between Florence and Rome. Through a selection of paintings, the talent of Fra’ Filippo Lippi (Florence 1406 – Spoleto 1469), one of the most important artists of Cosimo de’ Medici’s Florentine season, and that of his son Filippino (Prato 1457 – Florence 1504) who he inherited his father’s talent and became the interpreter of taste in Rome at the end of the fifteenth century.
