Ideas fly free in the sky of Europe

An event entitled “Ideas fly free in the sky of Europe” was held within the schedule of the XIII edition of the Diplomacy festival, winner of the Roman Summer Call. The meeting, which was held in the suggestive space of the Elderly Center, immersed in the greenery of the Colle Oppio Park, saw the participation of various classes of the Montessori Montesacro Institute of Rome (more than 70 children).

The event was divided into two moments. In the morning there was a performance with a theater group that organized a performance from the book “The fabulous tale of the fairy Scemarella“, a book that sensitizes readers to the issue of bullying (in the form of body-shaming). At the end of the show and after a short snack, the children started a kite workshop. First of all there was a presentation by the expert staff (Associazione Aquilinostica Alta Quota) on the history of kites, the use and types of these sails, then a laboratory to build small kites to be able to fly free in the sky and on which to write a thought on Europe to come. Almost a hundred children, under the supervision of the school staff and the organizers, gave birth to as many kites, even managing to make them soar in the sky.

In the afternoon, however, a conference was organized to talk about the city of Rome and its changes in future perspective on the occasion of the major events that will see it as a stage. Among those already established, such as the Jubilee of 2025 and the extraordinary one of 2033, also the possible organization of EXPO 2030. The title of this conference, which saw some realities of Rome present, was “Ideas fly over the Rome of the Future: ideas, projects, works, utopias“.
