On April 25, the European Federalist Youth, like many other movements, parties and associations, will also be in Piazza della Rotonda in Rome alongside various partisan associations and the Ukrainians in Italy.
The date that marks Italy’s liberation from the horrors of Nazi-fascism is of extraordinary significance for every federalist. The date that responded to dictatorships with freedom and democracy is a symbol of that free and united Europe planned on the island of Ventotene. The date we have been celebrating for seventy-eight years does not belong to the past. Instead, it is an opportunity to express, with ever greater strength, support and closeness to those who resist today’s totalitarianisms. Among them, the Ukrainian people who have been defending their territory from Putin’s criminal invasion for more than a year.
