The painting “Portrait of Eleonora Gonzaga” (1622), the only portrait signed and dated by Lucrina Fetti. The work, owned by the Accademia Nazionale Virgiliana, will be on display from 8 June to 1 October 2023 in the Pinacoteca of the Capitoline Museums, in Room VI dedicated to Bolognese and Northern Italian painting, and represents one of the artist’s most interesting canvases also for the contribution it provides to the reconstruction of the presence of female artists in Rome between the 16th and 19th centuries.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on Thursday 8 June, at 18.00, with a guided tour held by the Director of the Civic Museums Directorate of the Capitoline Superintendence Ilaria Miarelli Mariani.
