With a letter sent to the president of World Athletics, Sebastian Coe, and in copy to the chairman of the Evaluation Commission, the Finnish Antti Pihlakoski, FIDAL communicated the withdrawal of Rome’s candidacy as host of the 2027 World Championships.
The decision follows the acknowledgment of the absence of the minimum requirements to participate in the competition, the final act of which – the decision on the venue of the World Cup – will most likely take place today.
