Solidarity for Oleg Orlov

Wednesday 13 December from 12 pm to 1 pm in front of the Municipality of Rome in Piazza del Campidoglio, 1

On Thursday 14 December, at 8.00 am, the appeal for the trial against Oleg Orlov, co-president of the Center for Human Rights Memorial TЦентр Мемориал will be held at the Mosgorsud court in Moscow. The prosecutor’s office requested the dismissal of the case based on the article on “repeated contempt of the army”. On the same day, President Putin will participate in the Prjmaja linija (Direct Line, an annual television broadcast in which the president answers citizens’ questions), during which, as per tradition, he will answer pre-established and pre-selected questions. But it will say nothing about the hundreds of political prisoners, the thousands of people prosecuted for speaking out against the war, the suppression of free speech and the violation of the rights of millions of citizens of the Russian Federation. That day the media attention will be focused on the broadcast. But we want Oleg Orlov’s voice to be heard. On the eve of the hearing, on December 13, an initiative will take place in several cities outside Russia in support of Oleg Orlov and all Russian political prisoners. We seek to give a voice to illegally persecuted Russian citizens around the world.
