Spring School by SIOI and the Navy

The Spring School “Italy as a maritime country: challenges and Opportunities” is born, as the result of the joint initiative of SIOI and the Navy, to develop greater individual and collective awareness of the fundamental importance of maritimeity for the country system. Being aware of the importance of the sea for Italy is the first step to strengthening its identity as a maritime country and therefore consolidating its economy which is fed by the sea.

The recipients are young graduates and undergraduates in all disciplines, civil and military public officials, private operators in the security and shipping sectors, analysts, diplomats, professionals, researchers and journalists.

The Program is developed in teaching modules that delve into the thematic contexts: The international context and the importance of maritime power; Fault lines in the Wider Mediterranean and beyond; Navigating the Future: strategic interests and the Blue Economy; Unsafe Sea, Expensive Sea.

At the end of the course, a certificate of participation will be issued to those who have attended at least 80% of the lessons. Furthermore, a final grade will be obtained for those who request it, upon presentation of a paper on a journalistic topic covered by the course.
