Tajani meets the Iranian Ambassador in Italy

The new Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani summoned the Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Reza Sabouri to the Farnesina yesterday. At the center of the conversation was the strong position taken by the Government which, through the mouth of the head of the Foreign Ministry, has asked for an end to the executions that are taking place in the Persian country. On the sidelines of yesterday’s meeting, the Minister gave a brief interview to the crowded journalists “During the meeting I asked for the suspension of death sentences, the immediate halt of executions, the suspension of the violent repression of demonstrations and I also asked that the authorities policies open dialogue with the demonstrators, recalling that it is not a question of public order to kill children aged 12, 14 and 17. The ambassador said he will report to his government“.

The hope of the head of the Farnesina is that the appeal of firm condemnation, sent to Terehan’s regime through the diplomat, will be taken into consideration. Tajani also added that “Italy has decided not to close the door to dialogue on nuclear power with Iran and we hope that Tehran will choose the path of dialogue and confrontation. We hope to see a responsible attitude from Iran in the Middle East area. We believe we must work for stability”.
