The Via Appia candidate to enter the UNESCO heritage

Regina Viarum has been nominated for UNESCO. In fact, the memorandum of understanding for the candidacy of the Via Appia site was signed today in Rome, at the Baths of Diocletian. Regina Viarum is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The ancient consular road, about 900 km long from Rome to Brindisi including the Trajanic variant, represents not only the prototype of the Roman road system, but it is also a millennial symbol of the relations between the civilizations of the Mediterranean and those of the East and Africa.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by the undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Gianmarco Mazzi; the president of the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archaeology, mgr. Pasquale Iacobone; the president of the Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi; the vicar president of the Lazio Region, Daniele Leodori; the Councilor for Tourism of the Campania Regional Council, Felice Casucci; the delegate for cultural policies of the Puglia Region, Grazia Di Bari; the Councilor for Culture of Rome Capital, Miguel Gotor.
