Day of alien species at the Biopark
Sunday 7 May 2023 from 11.00 to 17.00 The Bioparco of Rome organizes a thematic day dedicated to the alien species present in Italy. These are those animal or plant species, also known as alien or invasive, that do not originate in a specific geographical area but which, once introduced, significantly modify or compromise the ecosystem they colonize. Two widespread examples in our country are the red weevil, a parasitic insect of palm trees, and the American pond turtle, also known as the ‘red-cheeked tortoise.’
